Ingredients & Substitutions
See recipe card for quantities.
- Strawberries - fresh strawberries are better but frozen will work too.
- Cream Cheese - adds a rich, tangy cheesecake vibe. Full-fat works best, but you can use a lighter version if preferred.
- Ice Cream - This is for the creamy base of the shake. You can use either vanilla or strawberry ice cream; vanilla keeps it classic, while strawberry amps up the berry flavor.
- Graham Crackers - These slightly sweet, whole-wheat crackers add a classic cheesecake crust feel. If they’re not available where you are, digestive biscuits, Marie biscuits, or any mildly sweet, crumbly cookie will work. Here in Germany, I used crumbly butter cookies.
- Milk - Helps thin out the shake for easier sipping, but you can skip it for a thicker consistency.
- Whipped Cream - For the finishing touch. You can use cool whip, aerosol cream or homemade whipped cream.
- Strawberry Syrup - for decorating but totally optional!
How To Make It
This strawberry cheesecake milkshake recipe makes 2 regular servings or one indulgent, huge milkshake glass—perfect for sharing or treating yourself to an extra-large dose of deliciousness!
- Wash and cut the strawberries into halves.
- Add the strawberries, cream cheese, ice cream and graham crackers to the blender.
- Blend everything until smooth and creamy.
- Decorate the the glasses then pour the milkshake in. Top with whipped cream and crushed graham crackers. Enjoy!
Helpful Tips
- If you want your strawberry cheesecake milkshake really chilled, I would recommend using frozen strawberries. The best way is to freeze the fresh strawberries because they taste better than the frozen ones from the store.
- Adjust consistency according to your preference! Start with a small amount of milk and gradually add more until you reach your desired thickness. For a creamier, thicker shake, you can always toss in extra ice cream or ice. If you prefer it lighter, just add more milk until it’s smooth and sippable!
- Serving your milkshake in chilled glasses can help maintain its cold temperature longer.
Optional Toppings And Mix Ins
If you're looking to elevate your strawberry milkshake, here are some of my fun toppings and mix-ins to play around with:
- Whipped Cream: Top off your milkshake with a generous swirl of whipped cream for a classic look.
- Graham Crackers: For a cheesecake vibe, sprinkle crushed graham crackers on top or dip the rim of the glass in strawberry syrup and then press it into the crumbs to create a nice crust effect.
- Strawberry Syrup: Drizzle strawberry syrup on the inside of the glass for a colorful touch or pour it on top for extra sweetness.
- Fresh Strawberries: Go for a fresh strawberry on the top for aesthetics!
- Bonus Ideas:
- Chocolate or caramel sauce: You could go for a bit of caramel or chocolate sauce if you're craving it sweeter.
- Freeze-dried strawberries: Blend these into your shake or use them as a garnish to intensify the strawberry flavor.
- Lime juice: For a tangy hint, add a squeeze of lime juice to balance the sweetness.
Variations
- Try adding ripe bananas to your strawberry cheesecake milkshake for an extra creamy texture and natural sweetness.
- For chocolate lovers, a drizzle of chocolate syrup or melted chocolate can make it all the more decadent.
- A squeeze of fresh lemon juice and zest will add a tart twist that balances out the sweetness and gives it a cheesecake-with-a-citrus-splash feel.
- You could also toss in some crushed almonds and pecans, or sprinkle them on the top for a nutty contrast to the creaminess.
- Or if you want to totally switch things up, you can swap the strawberries for other fruits like blueberries, raspberries, or mango for a fun twist on a cheesecake milkshake.
